Joe Hisaishi (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, The Boy and the Heron, Howl’s Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Departures) is making his American feature scoring debut on the upcoming romantic fantasy drama A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. The film is directed by Kogonada (After Yang, Columbus) and stars Margot Robbie, Colin Farrell, Kevin Kline and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The movie follows two single strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding and soon find themselves on fantastical adventure together where they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts. Seth Reiss (The Menu) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the project with Bradley Thomas (Killers of the Flower Moon, here’s Something About Mary), Ryan Friedkin (Black Bird, The Last Vermeer) and Youree Henley (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, The Lighthouse). A Big Bold Beautiful Journey will be released in theaters nationwide on September 19 by Sony Pictures.

Please don’t suck…
Calling it now, in three years, he’s going to score a Marvel movie or television show.
Well, it´s Hisaishi – so I do wish him all the best! Hopefully the soundtrack will get also a physical release. Let´s wait and see…
Seriously? Only one normal comment about the news that couldn’t be imagined 15 and even 10 years ago? It’s Joe Hisaishi, not your usual composer (put any name that you like), so stop writing your standard nonsense. The music for this movie will be great. And no, Hisaishi will not write the music for Superhero films; he has enough work in Japan with anime to not be involved in some garbage films.
