22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the animated feature Little Amélie or the Character of Rain (Amelie et la metaphysique des tubes). The album features the film’s original music composed by Mari Fukuhara (Rinco’s Restaurant). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out the track list. Little Amélie or the Character of Rain is directed by Maïlys Vallade & Liane-Cho Han and based on the autobiographical novel The Character of Rain by Amélie Nothomb. The movie tells the story of a girl who develops a deep attachment to her family’s housekeeper and discovers the wonders of nature, as well as the emotional truths hidden beneath the surface of her family’s idyllic life as foreigners in post-war Japan. The animated feature premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is opening in French theaters today. GKIDS has picked up domestic distribution rights for a release in the U.S. in the coming months.
